Welcome...

Welcome to the new Disability Service Workers website.

Professionals and para-professionals working in the field of human support services are skilled people.

The work you do as one of these caring workers saves lives, and adds a quality of life experience for your recipients that would not be possible without this expertise.

An Association of Disability Service Workers could offer an opportunity for you as a truly dedicated employee to define your role and enhance your identity as a valued workforce member.

This Professional Association could help bring together the voices of workers from across the province of Alberta, so that we can speak to important disability issues as a cohesive and contributing group. We can set standards, a code of ethics and conduct and define our own credentialing system that supports and nurtures the membership.

Becoming a member could give you access to relevant information about your work; could give you an identity within the vast field of human services; could draw you into discussions and research that furthers our understanding of services; and could help disability workers across the province develop a political voice that could influence the decisions that are made by the province about such things as funding, services, standards, etc.
